Episode 60: Koranic Criticism
Heres the place for comments on #60.
ooh! ooh! I'll start. I attended a 6 hour conference with Ibn Warraq before the interview. There was so much fascinating information (very damning to Islam too) that he covered. It got me really excited about this research. Problem is, I couldn't tease out too many specific examples from Ibn during the interview (and I tried too -- the unedited interview is an hour long). But I'm going through my conference notes, and some of Warraq's books to put together a (hopefully) mind-blowing Skeptics Sunday School on the Koran for another episode in the near(ish) future.

There's Reasonable Doubts tshirts? And is it spelled the Koran or the Quran, by the way?

Excellent show.
So much emphasis is placed on Judeo-Christian counter-apologetics (and rightfully so), that it's nice to get some Islamic critique every once in a while. I look forward to the next Skeptic's Sunday School!

They are both transliterations into English. Koran is an older transliteration. I usually use Qu'ran because I've heard its more accurate, Ibn Warraq scoffs at the new spelling. I cant remember exactly what his argument was, but for some reason he feels the new spelling was motivated by a superficial political correctness.
I honestly dont care, but I figure "his book, his interview, his preferred spelling"

Thanks for the info. My paperback copy of the Koran is spelled as the Koran.

I also use Qu'ran because that's the way my copy has it spelled
